Constituency and Party Betting

The 2010 general election looks set to offer some really attractive betting options. It is possible to place bets not just on which party is going to win overall but also on a constituency basis.

How does constituency betting help me?

To try to get one over the bookmakers you are able to use some of your local knowledge to beat the odds. For example the Green party are favourites to take the Brighton Pavillion seat, but will an increased turnout mean that one of the main parties wins the seat instead? Plus of course if you are able to vote then you can directly affect the outcome yourself.

Brighton

Brighton Pavilion

The Green Party are the current favourites to win this seat which would give the UK its first Green Party MP.

At the 2005 election the Green Party came 3rd behind Labour and Conservative. To win the seat this time round requires a 7% swing from Labour to Green.

The Green Party will have the leader Caroline Lucas standing in an effort to go all out for election, clearly the bookmakers have already seen good money on this possibility with both Ladbrokes and Paddy Power having installed them as odds on favourites to win.
